 Looking for Stewards

 

Crossmolina Festival Sub-Committee are looking for Stewards (male and female) to help out with the St. Patrick’s Weekend Festival, in particular with the ‘Electric Light Parade’ taking place Friday evening, 17th of March.  There will be a meeting on Tuesday night, 14th of March 2017 at 7:30p.m. in the Enterprise Centre in Crossmolina for anyone interested in being Steward.

 

Lotto Results.

There was no winner of the Crossmolina Deel-Rovers GAA Club Lotto Jackpot on Saturday night 25th February. The numbers were 9 – 13 – 23 – 26 Bernie Gardiner Church St Crossmolina matched three numbers and won €150. The draw took place in Christy’s Bar.This week’s jackpot is €8,100. Wedding Bells.

Congratulation to Paul Haran Coolturk Crossmolina and Michelle Walsh Templeboy Sligo who were married on Friday of last week in The Church of the Immaculate Conception Templeboy with reception in Breffey House Hotel. The Happy couple are wished al the best of luck in their married life

 

Drama in Parish Hall.

The Annual Crossmolina Deel-Rovers Bord Na Nog Awards and Table took place in Hineys Upper Deck on Sunday Evening last with special guest Mayo Senior Team Manager Stephen Rochford. The Following were the awards recipients

The Late Henry Ormsby. 

The death occurred peacefully on Sunday 26th February at Abbey Breaffy Nursing Home Castlebar of Henry Ormsby in his 90th Year formerly of Fotish Crossmolina. His remains reposed at Hiney’s Funeral Home on Tuesday evening with removal to St Mary’s church Crossmolina. Funeral Service on Wednesday with burial afterwards in the adjoining Cemetery. Henry was pre-deceased by his sister Elizabeth brother Oliver, is survived by his nephew Cecil Fotish relations, extended family, friends and neighbours. May he rest in peace.

 

Kilmurray Social.

On this coming Sunday evening 12th March in Kilmurray Community centre with Music by The Padden’s Family commencing at 7pm admission €5. Come along meet and greet your friends. Refreshments served all are welcome

 

Michael Walsh League.

Crossmolina’s new management of Eoin Sweeny and Patrick McAndrew got their first win the this Michael Walsh League cup tie at Tiernans Park on Sunday week with heavy rain before and during the game conditions were not suited the type open football that both sides play Crossmolina got off to a great start with a goal and two points from Brian Benson and Thomas Cafferty point before Claremorris best forward James Shaughnessy  rattled of three points  with Mickie Loftus Mark Leonard and Thomas Cafferty replying with points each. Simon Heffernan and James Struttle grabbed points before the break to leave the score 1 – 6  to 0 – 5 Brian Benson and Cathal Carolan added points before James Shaughnessy and James Struttle replied with points for the visitors mid way through half Mick Higgins gave his side a life line with goal to reduce the lead to three points Crossmolina kicked on again with a string of points from Brian Benson Martin McAndrew Ciaran McDonald who came on as a sub and Mark Leonard in between those scores James Shoughnessy grabbed his sides second goal to leave the final score 2 – 15 to 2 – 8

The Late Mattie Merrick 

The Parish of Crossmolina and surrounding area were shocked and sadden when news of the death of Mattie Merrick Ballycorraun in a road accident on the Bellacorick to Castlebar road at Keenagh on Wednesday morning last while on his daily rounds with the post. His remains reposed at his residence on Thursday and at Hineys Funeral Home on Friday evening. Requiem mass on Saturday in St Tiernans  Church with burial after wards in Crossmolina Cemetery Mattie is survived by his wife Catherine, sons Joseph, Kieran and Marty, daughter Katie Brother Paddy London sister Angela Leeds, brothers – in – law, sisters – in – law, nephews, relations, extended family, colleagues in An Post, friends and Neighbours. May he rest in peace
