The Late Paddy McAndrew

The death occurred peacefully on Monday 6th August at his residence of Paddy McAndrew 87 St Marys Park Crossmolina and formerly of Doobeha Moygownagh Ballina. His remains reposed at his residence. Requiem mass on Thursday in St Tiernans Church with burial afterwards in Moygownagh Cemetery. Paddy is survived by his by sister Mary O'Meara, nephews Jerry O'Meara, Richard O'Meara, nieces Marie Carr, Margaret Barrett, grandnephews, grandnieces, relatives, friends, and neighbours my he rest in peace

 

World Meeting of Families- Opening Ceremony

Event: Opening Service of Prayer

· Location: St Muredach’s Cathedral, Ballina

· Date & Time: Tuesday 21 August @8pm

· Details: This Opening Service of Prayer will involve all parishes in the diocese. Every parish will carry a banner and will be involved in all the prayers. A reflection will be lead by 20 young people on the Road of Life using shoes. Our Petition Box will be carried with a large hand woven globe, representing our connection to each other across the universe. All parishes are invited to attend.

Well done to Barry Loftus Mullenmore Crossmolina and Strand Fitness Ballina who competed in the gruelling Ironman events in Estonia recently. This was Barry’s seventh time competing in the event in which he returned a very commendable time of 10 hours and twenty six minuets

The death occurred peacefully on Thursday 26th July at Mayo University Castlebar of Ann Marie Corduff 116 Knockaphunta Park, Westport Road, Castlebar and Mullenmore North, Crossmolina. Her remains reposed at the Family Home Mullenmore North on Friday evening. Funeral Mass on Saturday with burial afterwards in Addergoole Cemetery. Ann Marie is survived by her sons Johnny and Eoin, daughter Rebecca, sisters Marian London, Tracy Devon, brothers Noel Ballina Darragh Crossmolina, brothers – in – law sisters – in –law nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbours, May she rest in peace

The Tommy Marren Written and Produced History of Ireland with Music, Song and Dance is now being staged in the Castlecourt Hotel Westport on Wednesday nights at 8- 30 with all local Mayo Artistic including Sheila Moffatt’s Atlantic Rhythm fresh for their recent success on Ireland got Talent, James Kilbane, Gerry Carney of (Paddy Fame) and many more a show not to be missed.

Homecoming Festival. 

Crossmolina festival would like to thank everyone that helped make the Homecoming Festival a success, from everyone that helped in any way, those that took part, the sponsors and all that supported the various events. We hope that there was something for everyone and all ages enjoyed the five days. We would like to wish the Crossmolina Agricultural Show the best of luck as they host their 64th show next Saturday, this is always a great family day out so please support your local show. Well done to some of the winners in this years festival, Lucy Lavin who owned the winning Pig at the races, Michael Lynn and daughter Rachel who won the James Hogan Memorial Jiving Competition, Shauna O'Boyle who was the winner of the 2018 Singing Pubs Competition and the winners in the Junior Fishing Competition included Niall Coggins, Michael Monaghan, Luke Browne, Éanna O'Boyle, Luke Carson, Ethan Reilly, Declan Moran, Matthew Monaghan and James Loftus.

The death occurred peacefully on Friday 20th July at his residence of Edward Gillispie Fiddaune Keenagh. His remains reposed at Hineys Funeral Home on Saturday evening with removal to the Church of the Holy Souls, Keenagh. Requiem Mass on Sunday with burial afterwards in Kilmurray Cemetery. Edward was predeceased by his wife Teresa, deeply mourned by his loving family son Noel Galway, Gerard Glenhest and daughter Rita Crossmolina, brother Michael Crossmolina and sister Bridgie Murray Shramore Newport, sisters in law Annie Chambers and Mary Marley and brother in law Martin London, daughters in law Una and Marguerite and grandchildren Hugo, Lennox, Darragh and Andy, nieces and nephews, neighbours, many friends and work Collegue. The death occurred peacefully at on Friday 20th July of Michael Hopkins Eskeragh Bellacorick. His remains reposed at Hineys funeral home on Saturday evening with removal to the Church of Our Lady of Mercy, Eskeragh requiem mass on Sunday morning with burial afterwards in Crossmolina Cemetery. Michael was predeceased by his brother Tony, sisters Sr Secoure, Sr Mary Annette, Madeline Collins Waterford and Bernie Hopkins, Nieces, nephews, relations, extended family, friends and neighbours. Mindspace Outreach service in Ballina FRC

Mindspace Mayo offers a support service to young people (15-25yrs) presenting with anything from common concerns (e.g. dealing with break-up, exam stress, bullying) to young people with emerging mental health difficulties such as mild depression and anxiety.  The outreach service will run one day a week (Monday) and is based in the Ballina Family Resource Centre. Kevin Martin the Murrisk Westport based author formerly of Ballina Rd Crossmolina will launch his new book  A Happy Type of Sadness: a journey Through Irish Country Music scene  in Matt Molloy’s tonight Monday 16th July at 8pm. Kevin had previously written a history of the Irish Pub entitled Have Ye No Homes To Go to?,

The death occurred peacefully on Monday 9th July at her residence of Mary (Molly) Diamond nee Gillispie Lecarrow Crossmolina and formerly of Townagh Bellacorick. Her remains reposed at Hiney’s Funeral home on Tuesday evening with removal to St Tiernan’s Church requiem mass on Wednesday with burial afterwards in Crossmolina cemetery Molly was predeceased by her husband John is survived by her daughter Martina, son-in-law Tom, sister Bridget Gilroy St Marys Park, brother Peter Gillispie Derby England, sisters-in-law Norah and Kathleen, nephews, nieces, relatives, friends and neighbours. U16 Lady’s Football League 

McHale/Rovers were comfortable winner of this U16 Lady’s league at a sunny Tiernans Park on Wednesday last Caoimhe Walsh drove on her side with some lovely points and Amy Blake Ailish Keane and Ciara Walsh raised green flags against that Natasha Merry got her sides two goals the scores continued to flow in the after the break further goals from Caoimhe Walsh and Ciara Walsh.  Hollymount kept pressing and registered a couple of goals and Grace Campbell tacked on points to leave the final score 6-14 to 4-12

2018 Festival  

Wednesday sees the start of this year's festival, it all begins with a family street fest on Church St. at 8pm on and the family fun continues until Sunday night when the festival closes with the Singing Pubs Final. Brochures are available at local outlets and tickets are available now at Hiney's for the Marc Roberts Concert on Thursday night. The festival would like to thank everyone that has helped out the programme together and hope your family and friends enjoy the range of events

U14 Championship

Belmullet emerged comfortable winner over Crossmolina in the County U14 Semi-final in Belmullet on Thursday last. Three goals from Eoin Walsh set the tone of the opening 30 minuets.  Crossmolina scorers were Declan Tolan a point and goals from Danny McDonald and Niall Maughan to leave the half time score 5-6 to 2-1 The visitors were dealt two further hammer blows when Eoin Walsh cracked the ball to the net in the opening minuets of the second. After weathering the storm Crossmolina Captain Niall Maughan grabbed three goals and Ronan Loftus one Dara Syron and Mickie Maloney tacked on points each but it was too little too late and Belmullet were through to the county final on a score line of 7-8 to 6-3
