We are delighted to announce that Gortnor Abbey Transition Year students will perform some songs, dance routines and acting from their recent sell out musical All Shook Up at Crossmolina Day Centre on Wednesday 17th May at 12.30pm. You are invited to come along and sing along to all your favourite Elvis songs. Light refreshments served after. There is a charge of €5. The Late Pat O’Malley.

The death occurred peacefully on Thursday 27th April of Patrick (Pat) O’Malley Church Rd Crossmolina. His remains reposed at Hiney’s Funeral Home on Saturday evening with removal to St Tiernans church burial on Sunday in Crossmolina Cemetery after requiem Mass. Pat was pre-deceased by his wife Bridie is survived by his daughters Mary T, Bernadette, Joan, Aedamair and Anne, sister Joan, sisters-in-law, grandchildren, Kate, Sarah and Emma, sons-in-law, nephews, nieces relatives , friends and neighbours. May he Rest in peace.

Erris St Pats ran out four points winners of this high scoring county Minor League tie at Tiernans Park on Monday of last week. The Erris boys always looked the more  dangerous James Doran grabbed the first gaol after twelve minuets which was cancelled out minuets later by a Lorcan Loftus Goal  Adam Carabine raised a green flag after a couple of Mikie Conroy Points Crossmolina kept in touch with points from Keelan Hegarty Darren Gill a Ronan Lavelle Goal and further points from Darren Gill and Fergal Duffy to leave the Erris St Pats 3 – 6 to 2 – 4 at the break Keelan Hegarty Darren Gill tacked on points and Ronan Lavelle netted his second goal in between James Doran and Mickie Conroy rowed in with goals for Erris St Pats Goals from Keelan Hegarty and Darren Gill brought Crossmolina back to within three points of the visitors and another goalmouth scramble was cleared and Mikie Conroy grabbed the insurance point to leave the final score 5  - 13 to 5 – 9 after a very entertaining game on a ideal May evening of glorious sunshine

Crossmolina were unlucky to loose this County U16 League tie at Tiernans Park on Tuesday last. It was tit for tat throughout with the score level on a couple of occasions with Edward Gough grabbing 1 – 3 of his sides total in the opening half James Williams and Adam Langan two points each Stephen Niland bagged 1 – 3 for Davitts and Takechi Kilkenny Niall Treacy points each to leave the home side leading by two points 1 – 7 to 1 – 5 at the break. Davitts were ahead in side two minuets with a goal from Jack Davane Stephen Niland added a point James Williams Adam Langam pointed to tie the score after forty minuets that was as good as it got for the Deel-Siders Two points from Stephen Niland and a goal from Jack Davane gave the visitors a cushion of five points. Three points from Edward Gough were quickly wiped out with another goal from Stephen Niland. Robert Murphy with two further points and one from Conor Caden which flew over the crossbar to leave Davitts winning by two points 4 – 8 to 1 – 15. Festival News 

The next heat of the Singing Pubs takes place in Hiney's on Sat. May 6th, music by Irishize, if you would like to take part please call 087 3162376, €100 prize on the night, overall prize €1000. Plans are well underway for Festival 2017 and Crossmolina Festival in conjunction with the Ballina Manor Hotel are pleased to announce International recording artist Sharon Shannon And Her Band in concert as part of this year's festival as part of Sharon's Summer Tour. Sharon has previously toured with Bono, Shane McGowan, Willie Nelson, The Waterboys and many more. Tickets will be on sale locally and online from Fri. May 12th.

After another high scoring County U16 League tie in away to Ballinrobe on Friday of last week Crossmolina suffered defeat but not without a great second half come back after being down sixteen points at one stage and finishing up loosing by five points 7 – 11 to 5 – 12. Stephen Graduated

Congratulation to Stephen Jordan Enniscoe Crossmolina who graduated from the Garda Training College Templemore on Monday last. Stephen will be stationed in Mullingar. He is wished all the best from all his many friend  

Feile Semi-Final

Crossmolina bowed out of Feile at the semi-final stage against a very strong Davitts Team in Park on Saturday week. The South Mayo side lead by 2 -5 to 0 – 5  With Jack Devane their scorer – in – chief  when assisted by the breeze Crossmolina kept in touch with points from Niall Coggins James Williams Diarmuid Walsh  and Diarmuid Coggins but a goal before the break gave the Davitts side a comfortable 2 – 6 to 0 – 5 lead Niall Coggins and Eoin Murphy pulled points back but Davitts tacked on two points to leave them winner by 2 – 8 to 0 – 7 Davitts went on to defeat Kilmovee in the Final comfortably  and will now represent mayo in the National Finals. Crossmolina Day Centre 

Thank you to all that supported the opening Day of the Crossmolina Day Centre on Tuesday 25th April in Crossmolina Social services. Over 70 people attended and enjoyed music provided by John Cosgrove, Mick Shannon, Padraig Hanahoe, Packie Hefferon, and Sean Gallagher. Singers Fred Finley, Fr Francis Judge, Michael Gallagher, Breege McAndrew, Bridgie Gilroy, recitation/poetry Breda Mulkearns. 

Michael Loftus, MCC, offered the Day Centre congratulations and best wishes for the future. The Day Centre committee provided tea, coffee & light refreshments, funded by Crossmolina Community Development and Crossmolina Social Services. Transport was provided by the Crossmolina Community Bus. We liked to thank Sr Finola Keavney, Cathal and Carmel Prior for the beautiful floral arrangements. M.C. for the day was Claudette McLoughlin, Crossmolina Community Development Administrator. 

Also in attendance were Public Health Nurses Paula Duggan, Helen Ruttledge, Patricia Gallagher and Dr Eleanor Fitzgerald. 

We wish to thank the volunteers who offered their services and contributed to making a very successful and memorable occasion. 

The day centre will be held monthly and will comprise of bingo, card playing, music & singing sessions, dance, arts & crafts, and cookery demonstrations.

Due to great interest this year in badminton our underage singles event was extended to an "A" and "B" section and an extra u10 group was also included. This event is run throughout the year and on a round robin basis thus ensuring all our entrants a max of 4 games each this season. Results are as follows:

A very lively competition in this section, throwing out some surprises with our new members Jimmy and Adam putting on the pressure!! Heartiest congratulations to everyone and a special thank you to all our coaches, Volunteers and parents without whose assistance we could not continue with such success. The Late Kathleen Deane

The death occurred peacefully on Saturday 15th April of Kathleen Deane nee Gordan late of Kildaree Crossmolina. Her remains reposed at Leonards Funeral home on Sunday evening. With requiem Mass on Monday in the Church of Our Lady Kilmurray burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Kathleen was predeceased by her son John, husband Jack, is sadly missed by her family, relations, friends, and neighbours. May she rest in peace.

Crossmolina Junior team lost out to neighbours Ballina Stephenites by three points     0 – 10 to 0 – 7 in the County Division 1D League tie in Ballina. The home side had the assistance of the fresh breeze in the opening 30 minuets and lead at the break by 0 – 7 to 0 – 1 with Adrian Kelly the scorer in chief for the Stephenites Thomas McNulty grabbed his sides only first half score. Dean Loftus and Thomas McNulty with four points and sub Michael Gallagher pointed for the visitors but in between Brendan Murray tacked on three points to leave his side comfortable winners in the end

Crossmolina team and scorers John Tolan Cillian This county U16 League tie was a game of two halves with home side Islandeady dominating the opening 30 minuets racing into a 3 – 6 to 0 -4 interval lead thanks to goals from Kevin Hennelly and Eoin Morris with Edward Gough kicking Crossmolina’s four points Conor McNulty bagged two goals and Adam Langan one and suddenly Crossmolina were right back in the game with only a point separating the sides by the 50th minuet. Islandeady introduced a couple of subs and they breathed new life and the scores flowed again with David Moran getting the killer score a gaol and Eoin Morris Cailin Joyce Ethan John Barrett tacked on points. Patrick McAndrew pointed and Edward Gough scored a goal from a penalty to leave the final score 4 – 12 to 4 – 7

Died in London 

The death occurred peacefully on Monday 10th April of Patsy Hanrahan nee Kearns Norwood, South London and formerly of Carrowkilleen Crossmolina. Funeral is taking place in Norwood on Thursday 4th May. Patsy was predeceased by her husband Michael, is survived by her sons James, Paul and Noel, daughter Lorraine, daughters – In – law, son – in – law, Grandchildren, sisters Mollie Gallagher Shanvolahan, Kathleen Byrne, Aughrim Co Wicklow, nieces, nephews, extended family, many friends and neighbours, May she rest in peace.

The Late Philomena Garrett

The death occurred suddenly and peacefully on Friday 7th April of Philomena Garrett Errew Castlehill Ballina. Her remains reposed at Hiney’s Funeral Home on Sunday evening with removal to St Tiernans Church with burial on Monday in Kilmurray Cemetery after requiem Mass. Philomena daughter of the late Mary and John and sister of the late Josie and Anne Tilcock. Deeply mourned by her loving brother Sean, sisters Theresa (McDonnell, Ballyvicmaha), Mary (Pope, Rugby,England), Kathleen (Leonard, Corballa), Veronica (O'Malley, Coventry), Eileen (Shephard, Rugby, England), Rosaleen (Costello, Tarbert, Kerry), brothers – in - law, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. May she rest in peace

Daffodil Day 

This fundraiser was a great success raising €2,660. We would like to thank the Businesses, who allowed us to collect in their stores, and all the volunteers who collected and the public who contributed so generously

After a closely contested opening to this county Div1d League Tie against Knockmore at St Tiernans Park. Crossmolina went on to dominate the remainder of the half with four points from Thomas McNulty and points each from Conor Rowland Joe Keane and Niall Timoney Knocmore had points from Conor Coleman and Shane Farrell to trail by four at the break 0 – 7 to 0 – 3 From the restart the visitors went about wiping out the deficit with a string of points from Niall Gillispie Brian Timlin Conor Coleman Shane Farrell and Mark Rutledge to go into a one point lead after 10 minuets Thomas McNulty quickly tied the score three further points from McNulty in the last twenty minuets kept the Deel-Siders in front Knockmores Brian Timlin replied with two points to leave the final score 0 – 11 to 0 – 10 after a very well contested game played in ideal conditions
