Bus Service From Crossmolina to Castlebar on Fridays

A bus leaves Crossmolina every friday morning at 9.15am for Castlebar via Bofeenuan and Parke and arrives in Castlebar at 10.30am. The bus then leaves Castlebar at 2pm and arrives in Crossmolina at 15.15. The pick up point is near the library.

Free IT Skills course for Farmers   

Irish Rural Link are offering a free computer course for farmers in the Crossmolina area with the overall aim to get farmers online in advance of the new regulations by the Department of Agriculture.

The course will cover topics such as: Farmer registration; Calf and Herd registration; the Agfood website; Computer literacy; Internet search; Setting up email; and Online banking.                        

The course runs for two hours a week over five weeks  in the Crossmolina Enterprise centre. To book a place please contact 0860897789

Free ‘Getting Citizens Online’ course

Irish Rural Link are running a free computer course called ‘Getting Citizens Online’ in the Crossmolina area. It is designed for beginners to help you feel comfortable using a computer.  It is an introduction to the Internet, shopping online, email, basic Microsoft Word processing, Skype and other useful government online services. No Name Club

This reputable group needs your help. If you can spare time to supervise the Crossmolina No Name Club please contact us. This is ideally but not exclusively for someone outside the parent group. If you, for example are in your twenties, are retired, may not have children or have grown up children and have an interest in facilitating older teenagers, then please phone Siobhan as soon as possible on 087 218 6560. Boys Basketball  

Crossmolina Basketball Club (Lough Conn Lakers) will resume training for U-12 boys (Friday, September 29th at 4pm) and U-14 boys (Friday, September 29th at 5pm) in Crossmolina Deel Rovers hall. Training for U-10 boys will resume in Crossmolina N.S. hall on Tuesday, October 3rd, at 3.10pm. Registration forms will be available at these sessions. Halloween Celebrations

There will be plenty of Halloween Celebrations in Crossmolina this year as we team up with the North Mayo Heritage Centre, Enniscoe to organise lots of brand new events from Oct. 28th - 31st for children, teenagers and adults. 

"The Halloween "Haunted Hat" Festival wants to make an appeal to anyone that if they have any old ladies or gents hats that they no longer require could they drop them into the Tourist Office (Enterprise Centre) on Wed., Thurs, or Fri. morning.

 

Kilmurry Church 

Masses has resumed in Kilmurry church this past weekend. Our thanks to the Kilmurry community Centre for facilitating our Masses over the last ten weeks. The Church will be re-dedicated on Sunday 15th October at 3pm.

 

Crossmolina Day Centre

Crossmolina Community Council & Crossmolina Social Services would like to thank everyone who attended the Day Centre Gathering on 19th September for Bingo Hour. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Thank you to the local business who sponsored the raffle prizes (Nigel Tolan Butchers, David Hopkins Butchers, Mollys Chemist, Hineys, Quinns Chemist, Gearoid Loftus,  Post Office & Liam Cawley). Lotto Results.

There was no winner of the Crossmolina Deel-Rovers GAA Club Lotto Jackpot on Saturday night 16th September. The numbers were 1 – 11 – 12 – 27. One punter matched three numbers. Peter Naughton Letterbrick, Keenagh, Ballina who won €150. The Draw took place in O’Malley’s Bar and Grill. This week’s Jackpot is €4,050. Many thanks for all your support

T.P’s Thanks.

T.P. Loftus , would like to thank all those who attended my retirement function on Friday 15th September .My sincere gratitude to all the Richmond NS and Kilmurry community- Board of Management, Staff , Parents and Pupils both past and present , Soccer Club and Community Games - for organising the function and for their very thoughtful gifts and cards . I wish to also thank all those who couldn't attend but sent their good wishes .It was very special to receive a poem penned by a past pupil, Liam Cawley, and a beautiful cake baked by another past pupil, Siobhan Donnelly. We all enjoyed the great music and song performed by Wavelength. I wish every success in the future to all the Richmond NS community especially their new Principal, Noreen Lennon.

Social Service Bingo Hour.

The Crossmolina Day Centre is back after the Summer break. It will be held on Tuesday 19th September from 2pm to 4pm in the Social Services. This month we will be holding a Bingo hour with spot prizes sponsored from local businesses. Light refreshments served. There is a charge of €5 per person.

 

Died in Leeds. 

The death occurred peacefully after a short illness recently of Carmel Nicholson nee Gallagher daughter of the late Tony Gallagher Shanvolahan and Kathleen Jordan Enniscoe. She is survived by her loving mother Kathleen daughters Jennifer and Emily, son Thomas, grandchildren sister Teresa, brother John all living in Leeds, also her aunt Nancy Horan Belmullet formerly  of Moygownagh, uncle Pakie Gallagher Corvoderra Dooleeg and a very large circle of family and cousins. Funeral mass tomorrow Tuesday 19th September at 11am in St Anthony’s RC Church Leeds. May she rest in peace.

The AGM of Crossmolina Drama Group will take place in Hiney’s on Wednesday 27th September at 9pm. New members are always very welcome and anyone interested in becoming involved is invited to attend this meeting or express their interest on being a member of the group

 

Crossmolina Chronicle.

This year marks the 25th Edition of out parish magazine we appeal to people with Crossmolina connections at home and overseas to become involved by contributing articles, stories and photographs to mark the special event a launch of the magazine will take pace in early December. Irvine Training Course. 

Crossmolina Community Council in conjunction with Irvine Training are running a course on "How to keep our young people safe on the internet". The course will take place over 2 nights in the Enterprise Centre from 7pm to 9pm on 20th and 27th September. This course is for parents of young children and teenagers and will cover topics such as the risks children take online, harmful content online, examining internet history. sharing and sexting. how to deal with cyber bullying, setting parental controls and activating safe search. Crossmolina raced into five points lead in the opening five minuets with points from Ronan Lavelle raising two white flags and Keelan Hegarty squeezing home a goal while playing with breeze but some poor shot selection cost the side a number of great scoring chances and when Moy Davitts attacked they caused the visitor defences all sorts of problems with James McHugh David Byrne Matthew Ledbetter and Michael Jordan getting on the score board to lead at the break by four points and continued to dominate the second half apart from Darragh Gills threat when scoring 1 – 3 and Robert Murphy chipping in with a point to leave Moy Davitts deserving winner on a terrible day for football with driving rain and strong winds throughout
