The late Bridget Hopkins

The death occurred suddenly and peacefully at her residence on Thursday 3rd August of Bridget Hopkins nee Hegarty 88 St Marys Park Crossmolina. Her remains reposed at Hineys Funeral Home on Saturday evening with removal on Sunday from her residences to St Tiernans Church for requiem mass with burial afterwards in Crossmolina cemetery. Bridget was predeceased by her husband Tony, is survived by her daughters Mary Lammond Castlebar, Philomena Judge Knockleggan, Bernie Reape Knockmore, Catherine Joyce Castlebar, Geraldine Lavelle Keenagh, sons Patrick Eskeragh, Anthony Chicago, Sean Ardagh, Michael Chicago, David Chicago, sisters Mary Jordan Castlebar, Lizzie Hegarty Enniscrone, Ann Gaughan Leeds, brothers Pat and  Jack Hegarty Crossmolina, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives, friends and neighbours. May she rest in peace


Lotto Results

There was no winner of the Crossmolina Deel-Rovers GAA Club Lotto Jackpot on Saturday night 5th August. The numbers were 4 – 14 – 22 – 32  no punter  matched three numbers either and six tickets were drawn David Walsh Derra Bellacorick, Darren Jordan Enniscoe Crossmolina, Gary McNulty St Patricks Ave Crossmolina, Claire Grehan 77 St Marys Park Crossmolina, Mickie Loftus lake Rd Crossmolina, Maura O’Malley Comminch Castlehill Ballina, each win €25. The Late Mary Kelly

The death occurred peacefully on Wednesday 9th August in the Moy Ridge Nursing Home Ballina of Mary Kelly Tooreen Crossmolina. Her remains reposed at Hiney’s Funeral Home on Thursday evening with removal to St Tiernans Church with burial on Friday in Crossmolina Cemetery after requiem Mass. Mary is survived by her cousins, relations, extended family, friends and neighbours. May she rest in peace 


Crossmolina Post Office at Risk

Am Post has made a proposal to relocate postal delivery out of Crossmolina Post Office and Foxford Post Office to Laherdane to a Mail hub, This would be detrimental to Crossmolina Post office and we are appealing it, We would appreciate public support and a petition is available to sign at the front door of the Post Office, also customer services can be called on 1850 57 58 59 to express your concern. A public meeting will follow if necessary


The late Katie Barrett

The death occurred peacefully on Wednesday 9th August of Katie Barrett Tubbermore Crossmolina. Her remains reposed at her daughter Bernie Coen’s residence Loughrea on Wednesday evening with removal on Thursday to Hiney’s Funeral Home and later to St Tiernans Church with requiem Mass on Friday burial afterwards in Crossmolina Cemetery. Katie was predeceased by her husband James daughters Mary and Loretta and grandson Dave, is survived by her sons John and Patrick daughter Bernie

Daughters – in - law, sons – in - law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives, friends, and neighbours. May she rest in peace


Lady’s Football 

McHale/Rovers Lady footballers had an easy win over Kilmaine at Tiernans Park on Wednesday last in the County Minor championship after leading 4 – 9 to 1 – 5 goals from Rosien Cronin Niamh McAndrew and Dara Moore. Vickie Munroe grabbed a goal and a point Ailish McNicholas Lisa Calvey Orna Walsh were point scorers for Kilmaine. McHale/Rovers continued to dominate the second half and ran out winner by 8 – 18 to 2 – 7

U16 Championship

Crossmolina U16 Boys got their North Mayo Championship campaign off to a winning start away to Cill Chomain on Tuesday of last week a Thady Connor Goal after eight minuets helped Crossmolina settle after a couple of glorious chances were wasted and Cill Chomain goalkeeper Ryan Connolly was called upon to made a couple of great saves  Edward Gough raised four white flags and Robert Murphy and Conor Caden rowed in with points each Sean Irwin pulled a goal back before the break with Paraic Tighe David Walker Jason Murray the other scorers for Cill Chomain to leave Crossmolina leading by three points at the break 1 – 6 to 1 – 3 Two goals in a three minuets spell in third quarter from Adam Langan and Edward Gough gave the Deel-Siders a platform to go on and win comfortably in the end by 3 – 13 to 1 – 8

Michael Garrett RIP

The death occurred peacefully on Tuesday 8th August of Michael Garrett Orchard Lane Sligo Town Sligo and formerly of Rakestreet Crossmolina. His remains reposed at his home Orchard Lane on Thursday mass of the resurrection on Friday in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Sligo with burial afterwards in St Patricks Cemetery Scarden Strandhill Rd Sligo. Michael is survived by his wife Bernie sons Liam, John and Michael, Daughters Elaine, Bernice and Ailbhe, grandchildren Luke an Erin daughters – in – law  Kirsty and Rachel Elaine’s Fiance Ashley, brothers Johnny and  Christy Crossmolina, Noel Dublin sisters Rosie Slievenagark Ardagh, Carmel Crossmolina, Lily Dublin, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, relations, many friends and Neighbours. May he rest in peace


World Meeting of Families

The Diocesan launch for World meeting of Families will take place on Sunday 3rd. September at 1.30pm in the Newman Institute. A family from every parish is invited to attend the Launch. Please give names to Fr Francis or Fr Gabriel if interested. The National launch will take place on Sunday 21st. August in Knock Shrine at 3pm
