Community Games Thank You

The Crossmolina Area Community Games annual sports day on 28th of May last was a fun family afternoon. Many thanks to all the children who participated and to parents for your continued support. Congrats and good luck to the children representing the area in county finals in Claremorris track on 2nd July.

 

Festival News

The second last heat of the "Singing Pubs" takes place in O'Malley's Bar & Grill on next Saturday, July 1st, €100 prize for the heat winner. Congratulations to Rebecca Mulhaire who won the heat in the Thatch, Rebecca lives in Ballina and is daughter of Billy Mulhaire, originally from St. Mary's Park. This year's festival will be filmed for broadcast on TV in August, the film crew will record the preparations in the town for the festival as well as some festival events as well. Thank you to Coolturk Quarries, AGS Scaffolding, Martin Lynn Painter, Stick's Bar & The Thatch Bar for making this possible. We invite everyone to the festival launch in the Town Hall on Sat. July 1st (after 8pm mass) & Sun. July 2nd after 11:30am mass. The Late P.J.Fergus

The death occurred peacefully at Mayo University Hospital Castlebar on Friday 8th   June of P.J.Fergus (Big P) Corcullen Keenagh Ballina. His remains reposed at Hiney's Funeral Home on Sunday evening Requiem Mass on Monday in The Church of the Holy Souls, Keenagh, followed by burial in Kilmurry Cemetery. P.J. was pre-deceased by his sister Kathleen is survived by his wife Ann, Daughters Ita Coleman Ballyknock Bofeenaun, Sharon Shonehaven Scotland, Annette Edinburgh, Sons, Peter Corcullen, Adrian Ayrshire Scotland, James Tubbernavine Lahardnae, Son’s - in – law, daughters – in law, grandchildren, brother Eamon Consett Durham, Nora Brandt Chicago, Mary Awve Chicago., Winnie Tuohison Arkinsaw , Sisters – in – law, brother – in – law, relations, extended family, friends and neighbours, May he rest in peace.

Crossmolina Parish National Schools advanced to the North Mayo NS semi final after cracking contest in Bangor on Tuesday last. Kiltane raced into an early lead with a brace of goals from Josh Carey. The Crossmolina boys bounced back with goals from Aaron Coggins Eoin O’Boyle and Nathan Lynch which came just before the break Jack Naughton and Aaron Coggins added points to leave the Half time score 3 – 2 to 2 – 1The visitors playing against the breeze extended their lead with four points from Jack Naughton another Josh Carey goal kept his side in the game before Brian Hopkins replied with a like score and James O’Boyle and Aaron Coggins raised further green flags to see their side run out rather convincing winners in the end final score 6 – 7 to 4 – 2

The late Anthony Loftus

The death occurred peacefully on Saturday the 3rd June at the Moyridge Nursing Home Ballina of Anthony Loftus Dooleeg Crossmolina. His remains reposed at Hiney’s Funeral Home on Monday evening with removal to Our Lady of Mercy Church Eskeragh. Burial on Tuesday in Crossmolina Cemetery after requiem mass. Anthony is survived by his sister Margaret (Peggy) Donohoe Philadelphia USA, brother Johnny Moyridge Nursing Home Ballina, nieces, nephews, relations, extended family friends and neighbours. May he rest in peace

Festival News

"Congratulations to Liam Cawley from Ballyscanlon who won the "Singing Pubs" heat in Maughan's Pub and will represent them in the final. The 2017 Festival will be launched in the Town Hall on Saturday July 1st at 8:30pm and on Sunday July 2nd at 12 noon along with the new festival website. The Nephin Rose Selection will take place in the Upper Deck on Saturday June 24th. This year's festival will be covered by a production company for broadcast on TV in August, thanks to Coolturk Quarries, AGS Scaffolding, Martin Lynn Painter, Thatch Pub and Stick's Bar."

Crossmolina were piped at the final whistle after a thrilling county U14 Championship tie Away to Ballaghhaderreen on Thursday last. The hosts played with a freshening breeze and raced into a early lead with goals from Shane Hamilton Leo Goldrick  Crossmolina’s Diarmuid Coggins Diarmuid Walsh and Niall Coggins each raised green flags to leave the half time score 5 – 4 to 3 – 4 James Williams bagged   two goals Eoin Murphy and Niall Coggins one each  in between Dillon Carmody Shane Hamilton and Eoin Coyle were keeping the Deel-Siders at arms length with goals each Crossmolina reduced the lead down to two points but  late goal and a point gave the Ballaghaderreen boys a six points winning margin 9 – 1 0 to 7 – 10

Congratulation to Kilmurray Soccer Team on winning U15 County League Division 1 with a 3 goals to nil win over Snugboro at Kilmurray sports field on Wednesday of last week. Goals from Eoin Murphy two and one from Cian Walsh secured the title. They are now promoted to the Premier league`

Congratulations to Sheila Rixon who won Heat No. 2 of the "Singing Pubs" and will represent Stick's Bar in the final on July 23rd. The next heat takes place on Saturday night next, June 3rd, in Maughan's Bar. Tickets for the Sharon Shannon concert are available in Hiney's Londis, O'Donnell's Centra and Mulhern's Gala. The Nephin Rose 2017 takes place in Hiney's Upper Deck on Saturday June 24th.
