The death occurred peacefully on Wednesday 23rd August of Nora Clifford nee McGoff Cricklewood London and formerly of Rathbane Crossmolina. Her remains reposed at her residence in Rathbane on Friday night with removal on Saturday morning to St Tiernans Church for requiem mass burial afterwards in Crossmolina Cemetery. Nora was predeceased by her husband William is survived by her sons Danny, Billy, Vincent and Kevin, daughter Noreen Keenan, daughters – in – law, son – in – law, grandchildren, sisters Mary Caden Rathbane, Ann McGoff Enaghbeg, nieces, nephews, relations, extended family, friends and neighbours. May she rest in peace

Crossmolina and Mayo’s Conor Loftus and his Cousin Ben McCarron the Derry Minor forward son of Dr Angela Loftus and Grandson of Dr Angela and the Late Dr Vinny Gurteen Ballina were on the mark for their respective County’s in the All-Ireland semi-finals on last weekend. Conor contributed two points from play and gave the peach of a pass to Andy Moran for his goal. Ben scored three points for Derry minors in their defeat of Kerry. Michael O’ Hanlon, 59 years, 30 year veteran of the New York Fire Department passed away Monday morning the 28th August in Cortlandt Manor, New York. Michael was married to Margaret Ann Loftus, daughter of Martin ( Marty) and Mai Loftus, Chapel Street, Crossmolina and Elphin, Roscommon. Deeply missed by his wife Margaret Ann Loftus O Hanlon, daughter Katherine, son’s Michael and Martin, son in law Brett Schlosser, sisters Noreen and Tricia and extended Loftus Family in Crossmolina. Michael was a regular visitor with his family to Crossmolina. He was a World Class traditional Irish button accordion player and would love to take part in traditional Irish sessions in New York and around Ireland. Michael was one of the many firemen who spent countless days working at the World Trade Centre during 9/11. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
McHale/Rovers were defeated by a stronger Moy Davitts side in the County Minor semi-final in Foxford on Wednesday last with Ciara Reid and Ava McGahan grabbing early goals the visitors Joann O’Malley tacked on 1 – 1 and Niamh Maughan raised a white flag Reid added another goal and two points before a great finish to half saw Lisa Lavelle bag goal and kicked a long ranged point and Eilish Keane also pointed to leave just two points separating the side at the break 3 – 5 to 2 – 6 Dara Moore reduced the lead with a point after 35 minuets but Ciara Reid who was dictating operation form Center half forward Moy Davitts controlled the final quarter and two late goals from Reid gave her a personal tally of 4 – 6 of her sides total of 5 – 13. COMPUTER TRAINING FOR FARMING FAMILIES
Computer Courses will be held in the Enterprise Centre in Crossmolina commencing Wednesday 13th September from 11am to 1pm. The course will run for 4 weeks. This course is aimed at complete beginners to give them the confidence, motivation and skills to take their first steps online and provide training in basic internet skills, browsing the Dept of Agriculture Website and communication tools. Get Connected to the Internet (classes for older learners)
Have you got very basic skills you want to refresh? Crossmolina Community Council are running classes for older learners (aged 55+) who have little or no experience with using the Internet and who are apprehensive of technology. Classes commence in the Enterprise Centre, Crossmolina on Wednesday 13th September from 2pm to 4pm. There will be a charge of €5 per week for a 5 week course.
