Crossmolina Junior team suffered a heavy defeat at home to Killala three goals from Colum O’Donohue in a four minuets spell midway through the first half killed this game off as a contest as the visitors had all ready eight points on the board eve do Kevin Keane and David O’Malley grabbed goals for the Deel-siders but further goals from Cian O’Dea and James Ruddy saw the winners race into a 5 – 8 to 2 – 4 interval lead. Died in England

The death occurred peacefully on Monday 15th May at his residence of Paddy Queenan Kingsbury London and formerly of Errew Castlehill Crossmolina. His remains reposed at Leonards Funeral Home Laherdane on Thursday evening with removal to St Patricks church. Burial on Friday in Addergoole Cemetery after requiem Mass. National Schools Wins Title

Crossmolina National School captured the North Mayo Comann na mBunscoil title with a comfortable 2 – 11 to 1 – 3 win over Belmullet at a windy Tallagh on Monday of last week. Crossmolina played with the elements in the first half and lead at the break by 0 – 8 to 0 – 1 six of those points from the boot of Diarmuid Coggins and points each from Diarmuid Fox and Darragh Syron. Belmullet had a number of goal chances which Richie Shelly pulled off fine saves from. Darragh Syron struck a crucial goal eight minuets after the break Eoin O’Boyle and Diarmuid Fox added points before substitute Nathan Lynch grabbed a goal and a point in between those scores the Erris boys scores 1 – 2 on the evening Crossmolina were the much slicker side all round and were deserving winner. The Late Thomas Gaughan

The death occurred suddenly on Tuesday 16th may of Thomas (Tom) Gaughan Abbeytown Crossmolina. His remains reposed at Hineys Funeral Home on Wednesday evening. Requiem mass on Thursday in St Tiernans Church with Burial afterwards in Kilmurray Cemetery. Crossmolina lost out to a much stronger Davitts of Irishtown team in the final of the County U14 Division 3 final in Islandeady on Thursday last. The winner racked up four goals in the opening half with three for the very talented Jack Devane and one form Davey Hennessy Crossmolina’s Diarmuid Walsh Niall Coggins James Williams and Danny McDonald kicked some neat points from limited supply to leave just six points separating the sides at the break. Crossmolina and Charlestown played out a low scoring draw 0 – 5 each on a hot balmy Sunday afternoon in Charlestown . The visitors lead at the break by a point with three points from Thomas McNulty and one from Niall Timoney.  Charlestown points came from Enda Marren Dermot Higgins and Liam Cregg. Niall Timoney extended that lead with a point in the 40th minuets which turned out to be the only score the visitors registered in the final thirty minuets and Charlestown were not much more with just two from Tommy Holton and Enda Marren.A draw was fair result in the end after both sides were into double figures in wides count.

Keenagh Thank You: 

A sincere thank you to all who came out and supported our Fundraising Keenagh Church Concert and to all the artists who made the night such a success, and an enjoyable night. The concert was held to raise funds for a defibrillator for the Keenagh area. Our target was surpassed with the total amount raised on the night €4575. Dvds of the concert are available to order from Sandra on 087 3638836 with all the proceeds from the dvds going to the defibrillator fund.

The Keenagh Church Concert was filmed by broadcaster Henry McGlade as part of the TV programme 'The Irish at Home & Abroad'. The programme episode containing the coverage from the Keenagh Church Concert will air on Thursday evening May 25th on Sky 212 and Freesat 161 at 7pm and repeated on Sky 198 at 8pm. There will be a defibrillator and first aid information evening on Wednesday evening the 17th of May at 8:30pm in Keenagh Church. There will be guest speakers and a defibrillator demonstration on the night. And defibrillator training details will also be available. And your support at this community first aid information evening would be truly appreciated

Get Connected to the Internet (classes for older learners)

Have you got very basic skills you want to refresh? Crossmolina Community Development are running classes for older learners (aged 55+) who have little or no experience with using the Internet and who are apprehensive of technology. Classes commence in the Enterprise Centre, Crossmolina on Tuesday 16th May from 12.30pm to 2pm. There will be a charge of €5 per week for a 5 week course. Erris St Pats ran out four points winners of this high scoring county Minor League tie at Tiernans Park on Monday of last week. The Erris boys always looked the more  dangerous James Doran grabbed the first gaol after twelve minuets which was cancelled out minuets later by a Lorcan Loftus Goal  Adam Carabine raised a green flag after a couple of Mikie Conroy Points Crossmolina kept in touch with points from Keelan Hegarty Darren Gill a Ronan Lavelle Goal and further points from Darren Gill and Fergal Duffy to leave the Erris St Pats 3 – 6 to 2 – 4 at the break Keelan Hegarty Darren Gill tacked on points and Ronan Lavelle netted his second goal in between James Doran and Mickie Conroy rowed in with goals for Erris St Pats Goals from Keelan Hegarty and Darren Gill brought Crossmolina back to within three points of the visitors and another goalmouth scramble was cleared and Mikie Conroy grabbed the insurance point to leave the final score 5  - 13 to 5 – 9 after a very entertaining game on a ideal May evening of glorious sunshine
