Multi Use Games Area (MUGA)

The Late Philomena Garrett

The death occurred suddenly and peacefully on Friday 7th April of Philomena Garrett Errew Castlehill Ballina. Her remains reposed at Hiney’s Funeral Home on Sunday evening with removal to St Tiernans Church with burial on Monday in Kilmurray Cemetery after requiem Mass. Philomena daughter of the late Mary and John and sister of the late Josie and Anne Tilcock. Deeply mourned by her loving brother Sean, sisters Theresa (McDonnell, Ballyvicmaha), Mary (Pope, Rugby,England), Kathleen (Leonard, Corballa), Veronica (O'Malley, Coventry), Eileen (Shephard, Rugby, England), Rosaleen (Costello, Tarbert, Kerry), brothers – in - law, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. May she rest in peace

Daffodil Day 

This fundraiser was a great success raising €2,660. We would like to thank the Businesses, who allowed us to collect in their stores, and all the volunteers who collected and the public who contributed so generously

After a closely contested opening to this county Div1d League Tie against Knockmore at St Tiernans Park. Crossmolina went on to dominate the remainder of the half with four points from Thomas McNulty and points each from Conor Rowland Joe Keane and Niall Timoney Knocmore had points from Conor Coleman and Shane Farrell to trail by four at the break 0 – 7 to 0 – 3 From the restart the visitors went about wiping out the deficit with a string of points from Niall Gillispie Brian Timlin Conor Coleman Shane Farrell and Mark Rutledge to go into a one point lead after 10 minuets Thomas McNulty quickly tied the score three further points from McNulty in the last twenty minuets kept the Deel-Siders in front Knockmores Brian Timlin replied with two points to leave the final score 0 – 11 to 0 – 10 after a very well contested game played in ideal conditions

Declan Wins Title

Congratulations to Declan Tolan Knockleggan who won the Connacht Boy’s 2 43k title defeating Laurence Ward of the Olympian Boxing Club Galway. Declan now goes forward to all Ireland finals in Dublin this weekend he is wished all the best of luck from all his many friends

Happy Easter from everyone at the Festival. The Annual Duck Race & The Teddy Bears Daft Raft Race takes place on Easter Sunday after 11:30am Mass, lines are available in local shops for the Duck Race and you can Bet On a Bear in the Daft Raft Race on Easter Sunday right after the Duck Race, try to predict how long it will take the bears to reach the finish line, fun for all the family on Easter Sunday. The dates for the 2017 Community Festival 2017 have been set for July 19th - 23rd

Crossmolina U16 team got their County League campaign off to a winning start with a hard earned 5 – 8 to 2 – 12 win over Bonniconlon at St Tiernans Park Crossmolina. Goals win matches and Crossmolina grabbed four in the opening half from Niall Coggins Conor Caden James Gill and Robert Murphy in between Jack Lawrence grabbed 1 – 1 and James Kelly a point Edward Gough with 4  points and Conor Caden one point had the home side in a comfortable 4 – 5 to 1 – 2 in front at the break. The Late Murd O’Boyle

The death occurred peacefully at the Moyridge Nursing home Ballina on Tuesday 4th April of Murd O’Boyle Mullenmore St Crossmolina and formerly of Mountcormac. His remains reposed at Hineys Funeral home on Wednesday evening with removal to St Tiernans church burial on Thursday in Crossmolina Cemetery after requiem. Murd was predeceased by his wife Anna Nee Butler is survived by his  daughters Margaret Keenan Dublin, Jane Benner Dublin, Grainne McDonald Grange Sligo, Sarah O’Boyle Dublin, son’s – in- law, sisters – in – law, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, extended family friends and neighbours. May he rest in peace

The death occurred peacefully on Wednesday 5th April at Mayo University Hospital Castlebar of Michael Mulhern Ballina Rd Crossmolina. His remains reposed at Hineys Funeral home on Thursday evening with removal to St Tiernans Church Burial on Friday in Crossmolina Cemetery after requiem mass. Michael was predeceased by his wife Anne Nee Rowan is survived by his daughters Annette and Aileen, son Michéal, brothers – in -law, sisters - in - law, daughter – in - law, nephews, nieces, relatives, friends and neighbours. May he rest in peace.

Crossmolina Badminton News

Congratulation to the Mayo Badminton Association on running a very successful Ballina Juvenile Singles event this season. And well done to Ronan Connor Winner Boys "B" singles U 11, Zara Moyles runner up in the Girls u 11 "C" section and Eoin O'Boyle Winner U 13 Singles "B" and Jack Loftus runner up U 13 "B" event. Well done to all our underage players who played so well and did us proud. And special thanks to our coaches John Valerio, Jonathon Verry Pauline Coggins and David Collins. Many hands make light work. Also special congrats to James Gough who won Division 3 Connacht singles event held in Sligo. Our new beginner Jimmy McAndrew got to the semi final "B" section in U15 and also had a shot at the  U17's, we have to say most improved newcomer this year and Tiocfaidh an la. Club championships are to be concluded next week so watch this space

Mayo County Council Vacancies


Mayo County Council is currently setting up a panel for

Retained Fire Personnel, which will be used to fill any vacancies that may occur in Belmullet, Ballina, Crossmolina and Westport Fire Stations.
